Post to Wire
Richmond Fontaine
Such a great alt-country single — on perhaps my favorite RF record — the first Fontaine LP I ever heard. John Askew sent it to me in 2008 during post on CALVIN MARSHALL. I remember having this CD in my car for many years at the time. Funny how music stirs very specific memories for me. This album actually reminds me of driving around Santa Monica with Flannery in her carseat, trying to get her to fall asleep. Three years old. 🥰 She usually fell asleep before TWO BROKEN HEARTS ended, track 7.
So many great songs on this one, but this title track’s an all-timer. A fun, emotional call & response love song about sticking it out together. Love those those guitars and that pedal steel!
I don′t care
anymore
Well, who was right
and who was wrong
Who was left
and who was leaving
And I'll overlook
everything
If you can overlook everything
I know you′re worn out
But you know…
Well, I'm worn out too
If everyone
screws up
And I know that we both do
Doesn't it make sense
Me with you?
And If you and me,
if we blow it
When it′s the last thing we should do
Don′t you think we should
stick together
Don't you think we should be the ones who go
Post to wire
Months to years
Days to nights
Minutes to hours
I know you′re worn out
But you know I'm…
Well, I’m worn out too
But we could go
Post to wire
Months to years
Days to nights
Minutes to hours
I know you′re worn out
I know you're worn out
I’m worn out too.
