Sigur Rós

This morning I woke up thinking about 127 Hours — specifically the BOULDER.

I chose all this. This rock…this rock has been waiting for me my entire life.

The next thing that came to me was this song Danny Boyle used — a resurrection song for Aron Ralston. He gets his life back. It’s a sprawling hymn at first, with Icelandic lyrics translating:

The sea cuts off
We sail the mast of faith
Let’s breathe
We steer to a bridge
We’re sailing ashore

And the bass that comes in at 3:38 and carries us out? It really feels like resurrection. The union of music and story — Aron Ralston walking free. A piece of filmmaking that fills me a desire to make these next 16 hours of my life count.
