Black Swan Lane

New music Friday — and I wanted to sneak the new record BLIND in from BLACK SWAN LANE — a band who I’ve played a lot the past few years. I was lucky enough to discover them during the pandemic — thanks to some of my fellow Adrian Borland fans in the UK.

They have that global, timeless post punk sound and Jack Sobel is just a terrific songwriter and musician working from his studio in Arizona. Also, he’s a mad magician in the studio — playing all the instruments, arranging and mixing, etc.

A sucker for final tracks — I’ve put playlists together with only final album tracks (!) which is a fun exercise and always seems to make an emotional playlist.

Love those first bass notes and Jack’s echoing guitars. Black Swan Lane records are full of great hooks, meaningful songs and tremendous yearning. And they have a bunch. This is a true indie band working under the radar. Worth checking out and buying their entire catalog right from his label. ❤️
