Thinking of a Dream I Had
The Walkmen
In 2004, we escaped to the Pacific Northwest for one year. It’s such a nice memory as we left our painful jobs in Santa Monica — working for a production company that wasn’t quite what we expected. So we had some money saved and lived small/cheap for a year. We were 45 minutes from a store, but worked part-time at an organic farm down the road in exchange for food. And we also had the bandwidth and creative space to produce our first 35mm short film WOW AND FLUTTER.
It was a great time for music too as I was collecting vinyl again and we were seeing bands coming through Portland and Seattle whenever we could. We caught THE WALKMEN who were still touring with their record BOWS + ARROWS. This was one of the more unique sounding bands — who borrowed from the early nineties but sounded fresh and new with Hamilton Leithauser’s giant vocals and interesting production choices. It still sounds great and this track in particular is a beauty that keeps giving almost 20 years later.
I'm waiting on a subway line
I'm waiting for a train to arrive
I'm thinking of a dream I had
I'm thinking of a dream I had
Maybe you're right
We're gonna have a good time tonight
When you're coming around, you'll be sorry for the plans you made
And when you're coming around, you'll be sorry for the things you said
Don't lead me on
Don't lead me on
Don't lead me on
Don't...
Don't...
And when you're coming around, you'll be sorry for the things you said
No one, no one speaks to me that way
I'll be hanging from the ceiling fan
Maybe you're right
I'm waiting on a subway line
I'm waiting for a train to arrive
I'm thinking of a dream I had
I'm waiting for a train to arrive
