Re: Stacks

Bon Iver

Regarding Stacks circles back every twelve months. A song that helps me face my hopes and regrets. Both stack up over a year, and hearing this beauty helps me dig through the junk — the baggage weighing me down and impeding my path.

The fountain in the front yard is rusted out
All my love was down in a frozen ground
There’s a black crow sitting across from me
His wiry legs are crossed
He’s dangling my keys, he even fakes a toss

This process of moving from despair to hope to gratitude really moves me. I think it’s the secret to having a fulfilling life — how we execute this kind of resilience for ourselves.

In the back with your racks
And you’re unstacking your load
This is not the sound of a new man
Or a crispy realization
It’s the sound of the unlocking
And the lift away
Your love will be safe with me
