Mysteries of Love

Julee Cruise

RIP Julee, your suffering is over. We had one brief but funny conversation and it was beautiful. One I will always remember.

Your voice and your work with Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch are on my mind today. FALLING is the one people know you for, but THIS is the song. It’s the one I’m playing now — the one I first heard watching Jeffery and Sandy slow dance at a high school party so many years ago in BLUE VELVET.

Why are there people like Frank?

The way Laura Dern responds, “I had a dream” just kills me — how the robins brought a blinding light of love. And how that love seemed like the only thing that could make a difference.

I feel this SCENE when I hear these strings and Julee’s vocals. A little glimpse into heaven for all of us who are confused and grieving and left here wondering why.

Sometimes a wind blows
And you and I
Float
In love
And kiss
Forever
In a darkness
And the mysteries
Of love
Come clear
And dance
In light
In you
In me
And show
That we
Are love
Sometimes a wind blows
And the mysteries of love
Come clear.
