How to Disappear Completely

Radiohead

The idea of disappearing or not being relevant or being displaced or just being gone and forgotten…😳

Like the BEATLES, it’s a band that could easily dominate this daily exercise if I let it. Some days I have to straight-arm certain RADIOHEAD songs trying to take me down, like a running back inside the 20 heading for the end-zone. But today this song got me in a flash when I was thinking about music that took us out of the 90’s and into the millennium.

KID A was that record for me, and it’s as glorious-sounding as it was when it came out in 2000. For some reason it feels like it must’ve been their 8th or 9th record — but it was only their 4th. I actually had this one on MINI-DISC (!) and would play it on a great sound system I got for my old Nissan truck. For some reason I was convinced MD’s would outlast CD’s 😕😆 and I bought a deck at MISSION AUDIO in Santa Barbara.

I remember the BASS booming on THE NATIONAL ANTHEM and shaking that little beat-up truck. I must’ve listened to KID A hundreds of times when I drove to LA from Santa Barbara. It was just one of those records you listen to straight through — all 11 tracks. And I remember driving around the block a few extra times when I got home — so I could finish it before parking. ❤️

That there
That's not me
I go
Where I please

I walk through walls
I float down the Liffey
I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

In a little while
I'll be gone
The moment's already passed
Yeah, it's gone
And I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes
I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here
