Ghosts of American Astronauts

The Mekons

I’ve been thinking about this great band since I hit the jackpot on my iPod shuffle yesterday morning. And I can’t stop thinking about Sally Timms who sings on so many great MEKONS songs. In this one, her vocals are so sublime and melancholy and soothing — punctuated with those little electric guitar strums. And this old video from ‘88 (!) just makes me happy tonight.

We had a long day of shooting this new film called ABOVE THE TREES and I just so appreciate the indirect encouragement I get from artists like the Mekons. Artist who have followed their passion for so long and just know how to walk to the beat of their own drum. ❤️
