The day after Thanksgiving, I’m having good vibes. Yesterday our whole family couldn’t be together for various health issues. It made me sad, but the little time we had was still so worth the trip — just to see my family and reconnect.
Cola Boyy appears on one of my favorite 2020 records WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU by The Avalanches. Specifically the amazing track WE GO ON which samples none other than Karen Carpenter and *new* vocals from Mick Jones. If you’re following along with my song of the days…I know you’ll appreciate the evolving, organic connections. 😄
But this song here has been all over my playlists. It is from Cola Boyy’s 2021 debut LP PROSTHETIC BOOMBOX.
Now, Cola Boyy is Matthew Urango from Oxnard, California. He’s a tremendous artist and inspiration who is disabled and an advocate for postivitity and for people on the fringe. You can feel the love in this track and video, the lyrics. It makes me so happy tonight.
We all have the tendency to run from problems and conflict. We run to protect ourselves. It’s not just the billionaires buying islands.
I love Matthew’s voice and energy — those keyboards, beats and this Avalanches collaboration is magical. ❤️
