Random Rab

An Oregon artist I love — who now resides in Colorado. I was introduced to his music by a friend and had the privilege of filming one of his shows many years ago at the Ashland Armory. Little did I know how much I’d fall in love with his music. This song is so beautiful and perfect. The final “I’ll be letting go now” refrain is an all timer for me that I go back to often. It can be so healthy and empowering. Whether its an opportunity or expectation, or letting go of a painful thought or memory.

It’s a song I’ve played so many times over the years. It’s landed on dozens of playlists. If there’s one good thing about artists working under the radar like Rab, it’s that so many people out there can still discover this song and his numerous records.

He’s an electronic artist first and foremost, but I love his singing voice and the melodies he writes. And most of all I love where his heart comes from — his songs exude positivity and reach for goodness, light and love — but they never pander or feel false, unearned. There’s a trueness to what he creates. I’m lucky to know him and always look forward to his music — which is released just about every single year — he’s prolific and lives that “art-life” I admire so much. Rab’s one of these artists who will probably never stop making records and performing. ❤️

The fate to lose
And forge ahead
Through the burden
Through the death

The howling
And humble hearts
Know the answers
Find the rest

Apparently a crystal sea
Winds into my hands
But when I breath
All I see
Melts into the sand

So I’ll be letting go now….
